Innvan & Innware Windows Mobile Transition
As technology evolves, staying ahead is essential to ensure seamless operations, security, and growth. With this in mind, we’re encouraging customers using legacy versions of Innware and Innvan on Windows Mobile 6.5 (and earlier) to explore our modern platform solutions.
Legacy systems like Windows Mobile 6.5 are becoming increasingly challenging to support. Many of the handsets running these versions, such as Intermec and Honeywell devices, are no longer in production, making replacement hardware scarce. This limitation impacts site expansion and the ability to onboard new users efficiently.
Additionally, older platforms lack updates to essential development tools and security protocols, leaving users vulnerable to potential risks. Our modern platforms are built on up-to-date technologies, ensuring continued compatibility, robust security, and access to new features.
What Do the Modern Platforms Offer?
The new releases of Innware (Android) and Innvan (Windows Tablet) are designed to enhance your operations. They incorporate:
- Improved functionality based on feedback from migrating customers.
- Advanced integrations with back-office systems for streamlined processes.
- Strategic partnerships offering affordable, future-proof hardware options.
This transition not only addresses the limitations of legacy systems but positions your business to take full advantage of the latest technological advancements.
Planning Your Next Steps
We understand that every site’s needs are unique. That’s why our team is working closely with affected customers to ensure a smooth migration process. Any bespoke features or functionality consideration will be carefully scoped and implemented before transitioning to the new platform.

Am I affected by this change?
Any sites using Innware or Innvan on Windows Mobile 6.5 (or prev) versions are included in this communication. Sites using Innware (Android) or Innvan (Windows Tablet) are not impacted by this change.
Most customers on these versions are using Intermec/Honeywell branded handsets. If you are using a solution with either a Windows Tablet, Zebra Handset or Keyence Handset, this would indicate you are already on our modern release.
Will I lose any functionality by moving onto the new platform
As we have developed the new platform solutions, we have considered existing functionality used by those migrating customers. In most part, the new platform releases contain more functionality as we have an active roadmap to continually improve our products.
Those sites that do contain either bespoke or currently unmigrated functionality will be identified during the consultation process that we plan to undertake with all affected customers. When confirming the timescales to put in place, we considered the additional work that may be required by our development team to ensure any functionality required can be scoped and released prior to migration.
What if I don’t want to upgrade
At this stage, we aren’t enforcing an ‘End of Life’ for these products as would be the norm in this scenario. We are aware that many sites are successfully operating on these releases.
However, we are increasingly being made aware of sites struggling to procure the legacy hardware that runs these operating systems which is in turn limiting the capability of the sites to grow and onboard more users.
We also need to ensure we are using supported development tools and working on versions that actively receive security updates. Therefore, we have decided that we will no longer include bug fixes or consider new features for these versions.
What makes the new versions better for me
Not only are the modern releases of these products filled with improvements and new features, they take advantage of newer technologies to make the user experience and back office integrations more seamless.
We have worked with strategic partners to identify replacement hardware offerings and ensured that these are attractive both in terms of pricing but also ongoing support and functionality.
