Formed in 2013, Tank Consult – based in South Yorkshire have over 35 years expertise in the design, manufacture and installation of tanking systems. They are also the UK & Ireland distributor for JSF Aluroofs and have worked with Innov8 for many years.
Executive Summary
Tank Consult’s growth over recent years has created new demands on communication, project coordination and technical capability. As the organisation expanded its operational workload, the tools they relied on — particularly email — began to restrict how effectively teams could collaborate.
Recognising the need for a structured and scalable solution, Tank Consult invested in Sage CRM, supported and implemented by Innov8, alongside a wider modernisation of their cloud, security and Microsoft 365 environment.
Solution Challenges
As Tank Consult grew, their sales and project teams found it increasingly difficult to manage communication, track work and maintain visibility across a rising volume of activity. Much of their workflow was tied to email, which led to issues such as limited storage, fragmented information and difficulty maintaining a clear view of customer and project history.
The organisation needed a central communications database, not only to streamline sales processes, but also to bring structure to project management and internal coordination. At the same time, Tank Consult required modernised security, device management and cloud infrastructure to support the systems they relied on day-to-day.
The Innov8 Solution
- Implementing Sage CRM
Tank Consult adopted Sage CRM, to create a central, structured platform for communication, sales activity and project coordination. This gave the team the ability to link email activity directly into CRM from their inbox, helping them shift away from inbox-driven workflows while retaining a familiar interface.
Sage CRM is now used actively across both the Sales and Projects functions. While project usage is currently at a foundational level, the business already plans to expand how CRM is used as the wider team continues to adopt it.
Also as part of the CRM project, Tank Consult also moved onto an Innov8 Cloud Server, which now hosts both Sage CRM and Sage 50, giving them a reliable, secure and scalable platform for their core systems that is fully integrated.
- Strengthening Microsoft 365 & Cyber Security
Previously Innov8 moved Tank Consult’s Microsoft 365 environment from 123REG to Innov8’s full management, enabling deeper support and enhanced visibility across users and devices.
Innov8 additionally within the latest project work rolled out Defender for Business Premium, significantly improving the organisation’s security posture. This proved especially meaningful when they successfully used the Innov8-supported M365 environment to achieve Cyber Essentials certification.
As a forward-looking organisation, Tank Consult have also rollout the use of Microsoft Copilot, which has quickly become a popular tool within the team. And Tank Consult has also added Innov8’s monitoring service to support Cyber Essentials re-certification and provide continuous oversight of security controls.
- Modernising Infrastructure & Device Support
Innov8 continues to supply and support Tank Consult’s laptops and PCs, alongside providing Veeam backup for Microsoft 365 and maintaining the hosting their CRM and Sage 50 environments.
The infrastructure now in place ensures Tank Consult has a stable platform that supports both day-to-day operational demands and the more sophisticated systems introduced as part of their CRM strategy.
Looking Ahead
Through this combined programme of CRM adoption, cloud migration, Microsoft 365 modernisation and strengthened security, Tank Consult has significantly improved the way teams work and communicate, as well as manage and secure information.
The business plans to broaden CRM adoption across more teams in the future to support wider communication and workflow needs.
